Across the Maasai community in Kenya, my community, particularly in Oloitoktok, harmful cultural practices such as FGM and child marriages continue to threaten the rights and well-being of children, especially young girls. These practices deprive children of their education, health, and dignity, perpetuating cycles of poverty, inequality, and gender-based violence.

The idea of starting Young Innocent Souls of God (YISOG) came after witnessing these challenges in my community and the growing number of people seeking refuge in my home as a newly ordained Orthodox priest—the first and only Maasai priest in the Southern part of Kenya. At YISOG, we are committed to breaking these cycles by rescuing vulnerable children, providing them with safe spaces, and advocating for their rights. We aim to nurture a generation that can rise above these challenges and lead their communities towards a brighter, more equitable future.

YISOG believes every child deserves to grow up free from fear, with opportunities to learn, dream, and thrive. Through community engagement, partnerships, and unwavering dedication, we work tirelessly to end these harmful traditions and create an environment where children can flourish.

Together, we can change lives and rewrite futures. Join us in making a difference.
